Ying received an MSc in Chemistry with Industrial Experience from the University of Bristol and went on to work for Plasma Quest Ltd (PQL). A collaboration between PQL and University of Exeter gave Ying the opportunity to complete her PhD in 2013. Her time at PQL focussed on process development of thin film materials, in particular magnetic materials for memory applications, using High Target Utilisation Sputtering, a proprietary method from PQL. Ying has also worked in various organisations in the areas of polymeric coating materials and microfluidics fabrication. She joined the CORNERSTONE team in September 2017 to further advance her microfabrication skills.
